Results of “Climate Change and Women in Armenia” awards were summarized at the official closing ceremony held on April 5. The contest was organized by UNDP, in the frame of “Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan” project financed by GCF, and RA Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Council on Women’s Affairs. “Women in Climate and Energy NGO” coordinated the awards.
“Climate Change and Women in Armenia” awards aimed at recognizing the contribution and leadership of women in climate change mitigation and adaptation processes as well as creating a platform for sharing best practices and fostering stakeholder cooperation.
UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, RA Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan, Acting Head of Department of Human Trafficking and Women's Issues of RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Erna Antonyan, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia H. E. Mr. John Gallagher, Deputy Ambassador of Egypt in Armenia Mr. Mohammad Salah and UNDP Climate Change Programme Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan, as well as President of “Women in Climate and Energy” NGO Nune Sakanyan made opening statements during the ceremony.
Out of 100 applications received during the awards, authors of the 6 best projects received awards.
